Lebanese MP’s allegation on Lebanon-Israel ceasefire: “Trump forced Netanyahu under pressure from Iran”

Lebanese Parliament member Hussein Haj Hassan has made serious allegations regarding the 10-day ceasefire agreement recently signed between Israel and Lebanon. Hassan says the ceasefire was imposed on the US due to pressure from Iran, and US President Donald Trump forced Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to agree to the deal “by giving in to pressure from Iran”. Hussein Haj Hassan, a member of the Hezbollah-linked ‘Loyalty to the Resistance’ party, was speaking to Press TV while giving this statement in the Lebanese Parliament.

“This ceasefire was implemented due to clear pressure from Iran. Trump gave in to pressure from Iran and got Netanyahu to agree to a ceasefire in Lebanon,” Hassan said, as quoted by Press TV.

He warned against ceasefire violations, and said the country had to remain “vigilant” as the enemy’s intentions were “deceitful”. “Our enemy is deceitful, and we must remain vigilant because they have violated the existing ceasefire several times,” he said, quoted by Press TV.

Meanwhile, Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem also commented on the ceasefire, calling it an indication of the Israeli military’s limitations. “The ceasefire in Lebanon showed the incompetence of the Israeli occupation regime. The Islamic resistance in Lebanon, by imposing a ceasefire on Israel, once again proved that this occupation regime is incapable of achieving its objectives,” Qassem told Iranian state media IRIB.

The ceasefire comes amid rising tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border, which have seen clashes between Israeli forces and Hezbollah, and which have escalated following the US-Iran war in the region.

On Thursday, Trump announced that Israel and Lebanon had agreed to a 10-day ceasefire, and diplomatic efforts were stepped up to ease tensions in the region. The US President shared that he had “excellent conversations” with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and both leaders welcomed the temporary ceasefire as a step towards a comprehensive solution.

“I had excellent conversations with the highly respected President of Lebanon Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister of Israel Bibi Netanyahu. These two leaders agreed that they will begin a 10-day ceasefire at 5 pm EST in order to establish peace between their countries,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.

The ceasefire comes at a crucial juncture for Middle East Asia, where there has been severe unrest along the Israel-Lebanon border for some time.
