3 big decisions of the Central Government: Good news spread from employees to villages

New Delhi. The Central Government has approved three major decisions related to the development of the country and the common people in the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday. These decisions will have a direct impact on central employees, pensioners, rural areas and the maritime trade sector. The government claims that these decisions will strengthen economic activities and benefit millions of people.

1. Increase in DA for central employees

The government has approved a 2 percent increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA) of central employees. After this, DA has now increased from 58 percent to 60 percent. This increase will be effective from January 1, 2026. More than 50 lakh central employees and about 68 lakh pensioners will benefit from this decision.

2. Sovereign fund of Rs 13,000 crore for maritime sector

The Cabinet has approved ‘Sovereign Maritime Fund’ of Rs 13,000 crore to strengthen the Indian maritime sector. The objective of this fund is to provide cheap and secure insurance cover to Indian ships. Till now the Indian shipping industry was largely dependent on foreign insurance companies. This scheme, along with strengthening the maritime economy of the country, is also being considered as a big step towards self-reliance.

3. Extension of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana till 2028

Keeping in mind the development of rural areas, the government has decided to extend the third phase of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) till March 2028. A revised budget of approximately Rs 83,977 crore has been fixed for this scheme. Under this scheme, villages will be connected to markets, schools and hospitals through better roads. This is expected to give impetus to the rural economy.
