Delhi Police’s big revelation: ‘Ghazwa-e-Hind’ conspiracy foiled, 4 accused caught
New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: Special Cell of Delhi Police has arrested a youth from Odisha in a major operation. The operation targeted suspected radical activities, raising concerns of increasing extremist influence among youth.
Sheikh Imran, who hails from Odisha, was among the four people who were picked up from Maharashtra, Odisha and Bihar. They are accused of allegedly following a fundamentalist ideology focused on the establishment of a ‘Caliphate’. Investigators said the group was influenced by propaganda related to the rise of “a Lashkar from Khorasan” (army) and was actively spreading extremist content through encrypted social media platforms. Police revealed that they were preparing to take part in “Ghazwa-e-Hind” and were trying to involve others in it.
The operation became even more serious when an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was recovered from one of the accused. According to reports, two members of the group were collecting materials to make a remote-controlled device, raising fears of a planned attack. Police also discovered that they were using QR codes and bank accounts to raise money, and were promising weapons and training to new members. Delhi Police described the arrests as a major success in preventing possible terror attacks.
