New Delhi. Amidst the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Addressing a public meeting in Krishnagiri, he raised the question why the Women’s Reservation Bill passed in 2023 has not been implemented yet? This is the land of those leaders who taught India the meaning of dignity, rational thinking and equality. Today, under the leadership of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and its alliance with the Indian National Congress, those ideals are not only remembered but are also being put into practice, protected and strengthened. We are the people who have always stood for women, justice, equality and democracy. Modi is in favor of ‘Chaturvarna’ and is against women. So, do you want Modi or us?

Mallikarjun Kharge said that the delimitation bill was defeated by all parties together because it was against SC/STs and the states where elections are going on. But Modi is claiming that the women’s reservation bill was defeated. The Women’s Reservation Bill and the new Delimitation Bill are different. We had unanimously passed the Women’s Reservation Bill in 2023 and Modi himself had congratulated all the parties. The bill which was passed in 2023 was not notified, and was notified on the night of April 16, 2026. This means that the bill did not exist, yet they brought the amendment. BJP is the most clever party. They don’t respect women.
Tamil Nadu is the land of Periyar, Anna and Kalaignar, leaders who taught India the true meaning of dignity, rational thinking and equality. And today, under the leadership of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and its alliance with the Indian National Congress, those ideals are not only being remembered, but also being put into practice, protected and strengthened.
I have full faith in the wisdom of the people of Tamil Nadu. You have always stood in favor of secularism, pluralism and social justice. Now the time has come to stand up once again. Exit in large numbers. Strengthen the hands of Thiru Stalin. Strengthen the secular progressive alliance.
Let Tamil Nadu build a strong wall against the divisive forces, not only for yourself, but for the entire country. The results on May 4 should send a message across India—that the public has rejected hatred and chosen harmony. Together, we will defend democracy. Together, we will protect the Constitution. Together, we will build a stronger and more inclusive India.
