The Bovensiepen family has officially confirmed pricing for its first car after parting ways with the Alpina brand, and it’s making a bold entrance. The new Bovensiepen Zagato will start at €369,495 in Germany, which converts to more than £320,000. That instantly places it in the same conversation as luxury heavyweights from Bentley, Aston Martin, and Ferrari.
For a company launching its first standalone model, it’s a statement of intent. This is not a cautious step into the market. It is a direct move into the ultra-premium GT space.
Limited to Just 99 Cars
Exclusivity is a big part of the Zagato story. Bovensiepen will build only 99 examples worldwide, making it one of the rarest performance coupes in its segment.
The car first appeared at the prestigious Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Italy last year, where it immediately drew attention for its dramatic styling and close ties to BMW engineering.
Each unit will be heavily personalized, with buyers able to tailor almost every visible detail. Bovensiepen says no two customer cars are expected to be identical.
BMW M4 Bones, Luxury GT Soul
Underneath the bespoke bodywork, the Zagato is based on the BMW M4but it has been transformed far beyond a typical rebody project.
The exterior receives a unique front and rear design, a reshaped bonnet, a revised side profile, and Zagato’s signature double-bubble roof. The result feels more coach-built grand tourer than modified sports coupe.
Power comes from BMW’s 3.0-litre straight-six engine, tuned here to deliver 603bhp and 516lb-ft of torque. Bovensiepen claims a 0-62mph time of just 3.3 seconds and a top speed above 186mph.
That means the Zagato mixes serious pace with long-distance comfort, which was always central to the old Alpina philosophy.
Handcrafted Luxury Inside
The company says more than 250 hours go into crafting each car at its Buchloe headquarters near Munich. Interior buyers can choose a full Lavalina leather cabin, which alone requires over 130 hours of hand-finishing work.
Customers can also specify exposed carbon fibre trim, custom brake caliper colors, and individually milled Bovensiepen badging.
This level of detail helps explain the price tag. Bovensiepen is selling craftsmanship and rarity as much as raw performance.
Tuned for Comfort and Speed
The Zagato also gets bespoke Bilstein dampers with three selectable drive modes: Comfort, Sport, and Sport Plus.
That gives the car a wide character range, from refined autobahn cruiser to sharper back-road machine. A lightweight titanium exhaust system from Akrapovic is also fitted, said to be 40 percent lighter than the standard setup.
A New Chapter Begins
While BMW prepares to relaunch Alpina under its own ownership, the Bovensiepen family is clearly carving out a new identity.
Rather than chasing volume, the strategy is focused on highly exclusive, beautifully built grand tourers for buyers who want something rare, fast, and deeply personal.
The Bovensiepen Zagato may be expensive, but that seems to be exactly the point.
