Balen Shah government’s announcement in Nepal – Government employees will now get salary every 15 days
Kathmandu, 21 April. The new government in Nepal led by Balendra Shah (Balen) has taken a unique step to bring the country’s economy back on track. In this sequence, government employees will not have to wait for their salary till the end of the month, rather they will now be paid every 15 days. Nepal’s Finance Ministry has also issued an order in this regard so that the new system can be implemented.
A unique step to bring the economy back on track
Taking a historic decision on April 17, 2026, the Finance Ministry of Nepal has ordered to implement ‘Fortnightly Salary System’ for its employees. After this decision, now the monthly salary of government employees will be divided into two parts and deposited in their accounts every 15 days.
‘fortnightly pay system‘ The logic behind implementing this
Increasing cash flow in the market: The government believes that when employees get money quickly, they will spend it in the market. This will increase liquidity in the market and reduce the impact of recession.
Reviving the economy: Nepal is currently facing challenges like sluggish economic activity and decline in real estate. Receiving salaries frequently will increase the purchasing power of people, which will act as a ‘booster dose’ for the economy.
Financial facility: Employees will not have to wait for a month for payment of their daily expenses and bills, which will improve their financial condition.
The new government has made many major changes so far
The main focus of the Rashtriya Swatantrata Party (RSP) government, which took power in Nepal on March 5, is on ‘economic stability’. In this sequence, apart from salary reform, the Shah government has made many major changes. In this sequence, till April 2026, the government has taken many such decisions, the aim of which is to make the system more transparent, accountable and closer to the common people.
vip strictness on culture
First of all the government has hurt the VIP culture. That is, now efforts are being made to reduce special facilities and different treatment for leaders and officers, so that the distance between the general public and the system decreases.
Now it will not be easy for leaders and senior officials to block roads, take out long convoys or avail special facilities. The government has given a clear message that law and order is equal for everyone – be it a common man or a senior officer.
Children of government employees will also study in government schools
The government has also decided that the children of all government officials and employees will have to study in government schools. Its objective is clear – when the children of officers study in government schools, the education system will automatically improve.
government employee, Teachers and professors will not join any political party
Another big decision is that government employees, teachers and professors can no longer be associated with any political party. That is, they will have to work completely impartially so that decisions can be taken without any political pressure.
Rapid promotion of digital system : : Apart from this, the government has also promoted the digital system rapidly. Emphasis is being laid on making government services online and easier so that people do not have to visit offices and the work gets done quickly.
100 Point Modernization Plan : : The government has also launched a ‘100 Point Modernization Plan’, in which the focus is on modernizing the administration, increasing transparency and reducing corruption.
