New Delhi: Actor Prakash Raj has once again come into the news for his statement. Recently, a complaint has been filed against him regarding an alleged remark and presentation related to Ramayana, in which he has been accused of hurting religious sentiments and hurting the faith of a section of the society. This matter has now become a part of both legal proceedings and public debate, drawing various reactions on social media as well. The complainant claims that this comment has been given an objectionable interpretation, which has affected the sentiments of a particular community.
According to the information, this entire matter is related to the Kerala Literature Festival, which was organized in the month of January. During the same program, Prakash Raj presented a staged narration of a story inspired by Ramayana, which is said to be basically a presentation to be shared in a children’s theater workshop. Adding a humorous and modern context to this presentation, some dialogues were also included, which later became controversial. It is alleged that during the presentation, religious stories were presented in a different manner, due to which some people considered it objectionable. The video of the event later circulated on social media, sparking debate and protests.
A complaint in this matter has been filed by Bhanu Prakash, a political leader from Andhra Pradesh, who is also a member of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Board. He has alleged that Prakash Raj’s statements are defamatory and hurt religious sentiments. It has also been said in the complaint that such presentations lead to misinterpretation of Sanatan traditions and religious stories, which can send a wrong message to the society. Apart from this, a separate complaint was also filed by an advocate on April 16, in which similar allegations have been made and legal action has been demanded.
Amidst the controversy, a demand is also being raised that action should be taken not only against those who make statements but also against those who support such statements. The complaining party says that there is a need to exercise more responsibility while commenting on religious topics in public forums, so that the sentiments of any community are not hurt. Opinions of different sections seem divided on this issue and the debate is continuing.
On the professional front, Prakash Raj is continuously active in the film industry. Recently he was seen in the film Dakait and many of his big projects are ready for release in the coming time. These include films like Jan Nayakan, Varanasi, Spirit, Father and Miracle. In the film Varanasi, he is working with famous director SS Rajamouli, while in Spirit, his role with Prabhas and Trupti Dimri is in discussion.
