The film Karuppustarring Suriya and directed by RJ Balaji, is nearing its release. With the film being slated for a May 14 release in theatres worldwide, its team members have started its promotions through interviews. Meanwhile, the film’s producer Dream Warrior Pictures announced earlier this Wednesday that IMP Films has bagged its Kerala theatrical distribution rights. “Karuppu Kerala theatrical rights bagged by IMP Films. Get ready for the blast,” the production banner wrote as the caption for the announcement.
Karuppu marks the first collaboration between director RJ Balaji and actor Suriya. It also brings Suriya and Trisha back together on the big screen for the first time after 2005’s Aaru. The film also stars Indrans, Natty, Mansoor Ali Khan, Swasika, Sshivadha, Anagha Maya Ravi, and Supreeth Reddy, among others.
Ashwin Ravichandran, Rahul Raj, TS Gopi Krishnan, and Karan Aravind Kumar are also part of the writers for the film. On the other hand, the songs, composed by Sai Abhyankkar, have already been popular among the masses. The ‘Raathu Raasan‘ song, especially, has reached around eight million views on YouTube.
Speaking of music, director RJ Balaji, who also plays a cameo in the upcoming film, recently commended Suriya’s charisma and screen presence. The filmmaker said that audiences notice Suriya when walks amidst a huge crowd and that his ‘mass’ presence is felt even without any background music.
Besides Sai Abhyankkar, the film’s technical team includes cinematographer GK Vishnu, editor R Kalaivanan, and action choreographer Vikram Mor.
