IRGC seized 2 including a ship coming to India near Hormuz

The situation seems to be deteriorating rapidly amid stalled talks between America and Iran and uncertainty over the ceasefire. According to latest reports, Tehran has adopted an aggressive stance and seized two ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed that its naval forces intercepted the ships for “violations”. According to AFP, the Guards issued a statement saying that the action was taken this morning. There is also a ship coming to Gujarat, which has been caught.

two ships seized

The identity of the two ships seized after Iran’s action has now become clear. The ships intercepted by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) included MSC-FRANCESCA and EPAMINONDAS. According to ship-tracking platform Marine Traffic, EPAMINONDAS was heading from Dubai’s Jebel Ali Port to Gujarat, India. Due to this, this matter is not limited only to America-Iran tension, but it can also affect regional trade routes including India.

Ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz are an important part of global oil and trade supplies. In such a situation, the seizure of these ships has increased the concerns regarding international shipping, energy supply and regional security. This incident clearly indicates that amidst the diplomatic deadlock, the conflict on the maritime front is now intensifying, the impact of which can be felt at the global level.

US-Iran tension may increase further

This incident has happened at a time when talks have come to a standstill at the diplomatic level and US President Donald Trump’s decision not to extend the ceasefire has further increased the tension. According to experts, such action in strategic waterways like Hormuz could pose a major threat to global oil supply and international trade. At the same time, there are also indications that both sides are now taking direct maritime and military measures to exert pressure, which could further destabilize the situation.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump today announced to extend the ceasefire, while on the other hand, Iran has attacked 2 container ships in the Strait of Hormuz. A ship has also been damaged in this firing. The British Army’s United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said Iran’s IRGC attacked the first ship in this important sea route for oil trade at around 7:55 am.

Firing on a ship flying the flag of Liberia

According to UKMTO the Iranian gunboat did not give any warning to the ship before opening fire. It is a matter of relief that no one was injured in this incident nor was there any harm to the environment. According to British maritime security firm Vanguard Tech, the ship was passing under the Liberian flag and was told it had permission to transit the Strait of Hormuz.

According to Iranian state media, the ship that was fired upon in the Strait of Hormuz ignored the warning. Noor News claimed that the Revolutionary Guards opened fire after the ship ignored warnings from Iranian armed forces. However, UK Maritime Trade Operations previously said the IRGC boat had not attempted to contact the ship before the shooting, raising questions about this report.

The second attack was reported to have been from a cargo ship that was fired upon and stopped in the water. It said there was no news of any damage to the ship. It is not that America is sitting silent in the Strait of Hormuz. Let us tell you that the US Army has earlier attacked and captured an Iranian container ship and has landed on an oil tanker related to Iran’s oil trade in the Indian Ocean.
