The IMD has issued a warning for Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir, forecasting thunderstorms, rain, hailstorms, and snowfall in higher altitudes starting March 24.

Over the next 24 hours, the northeastern states are expected to remain under the influence of an anticyclonic circulation. Consequently, an alert has been issued warning of heavy rainfall and hailstorms, accompanied by lightning strikes. In South India—specifically across several states, as well as various districts in Maharashtra and Gujarat—rainfall is anticipated.

Rain to Cause Havoc in Northeastern States as Well

The IMD has indicated that a cyclonic circulation is expected to remain active in the region for several days. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for parts of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and West Bengal, warning of thunderstorms and rain accompanied by wind speeds ranging from 60 to 70 kilometers per hour.

There is a likelihood of lightning strikes and hailstorms. These weather activities also serve as an indication of the onset of the pre-monsoon season. Additionally, heatwave warnings have been issued for several states, including Odisha and Jharkhand.
