What is Apple’s Car-Key feature?

Apple introduced this smart feature in the year 2022. Through this, users can lock, unlock and start the car with the help of their iPhone or Apple Watch. That means the need for physical keys is almost eliminated. This technology is based on NFC reader and ultra-wideband (UWB), which provides secure and fast connection.

Many big companies are already involved

Apple has already announced that 13 major car brands will get digital key support. Along with Tata EV, big companies like BMW, Kia, Hyundai, Mercedes and Volvo are included in this list. Now Tata’s inclusion in this list has special significance for Indian users.

Features that will change the driving experience

This feature works through the Apple Wallet app and makes the car driving experience completely smart. If your car has the latest UWB technology, you won’t even need to take out the phone. As soon as you approach the car, it will automatically unlock and you will be able to start it easily.

Additionally, “Express Mode” Makes this feature even easier. In this, the car can be accessed even without unlocking the phone or using Face ID/Touch ID. The special thing is that you can also share your digital key with family or friends through AirDrop or messaging apps.

Which devices will be supported?

This feature will not be available in all older iPhones. For this, at least iPhone 11 or newer model is required. At the same time, for Apple Watch users, this feature will work only in Series 6 or newer models. That means only users with updated devices will be able to take advantage of this smart feature.

The news of the car-key feature in Tata EV comes at a time when there is a major leadership change at Apple. The company has confirmed that longtime CEO Tim Cook is leaving his post and the company will now be led by hardware engineering head John Ternes.
