Terror Funding Case: Hearing on the bail plea of Baramulla MP Rashid completed in Patiala House Court, NIA protested
The hearing on the interim bail plea of Baramulla MP Rashid Engineer, arrested on terror funding charges, has been completed in Patiala House Court. After the hearing, the court has reserved its decision and now the decision in this case will be pronounced tomorrow (April 24). Rashid Engineer has sought interim bail in Patiala House Court to meet his ailing father, whose condition is said to be critical. Additional Sessions Judge Prashant Sharma ordered the verdict to be pronounced on April 24.

Delhi Court has reserved its decision on the petition seeking interim bail of Terror Funding case accused and MP Engineer Rashid. Additional Sessions Judge Prashant Sharma ordered the verdict to be pronounced on April 24. The accused had sought bail to see his ailing father. Engineer Rashid has filed a petition saying that his father is ill and he is on ventilator.
During the hearing, the lawyer appearing for NIA said that he can be released on custody parole. Earlier, the court had allowed Engineer Rashid to participate in the Parliament session in custody. The court had allowed Engineer Rashid to participate in the entire session of Parliament from January 28 to April 2. Even in November 2025, the court had allowed Rashid to participate in the Parliament session. Engineer Rashid was allowed to vote in the Vice-Presidential election held in September 2025.
At the same time, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has cited security reasons while opposing this demand for temporary relief. NIA has opposed the interim bail of Rashid Engineer, whereas NIA is ready to grant only custodial parole due to security reasons. NIA’s lawyer said that Rashid Engineer can meet his father and family even in custody parole. Apart from this, Rashid Engineer is not allowed to meet anyone.
Rashid Engineer’s lawyer said that his father is on ventilator, hence interim bail should be granted soon. Rashid’s lawyer alleged that his arrest is political and he gets interim bail during elections. But the father’s condition is very bad and NIA is now protesting.
Engineer Rashid had won the Lok Sabha elections 2024 by defeating former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah by about one lakh votes. Engineer Rashid was arrested by the NIA in 2016.
