Big upset in IPL: Bowlers’ hard work went in vain, Rajasthan Royals jumped in the points table

New Delhi . In an exciting match of IPL 2026 played at Ekana Stadium, Rajasthan Royals performed brilliantly and defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 40 runs. Batting first, Rajasthan scored 159 runs losing 6 wickets in 20 overs, in response to which the entire Lucknow team was all out for 119 runs in 18 overs.
Rajasthan’s batting was stable
After losing the toss and coming to bat first, Rajasthan had a bit of a shaky start, but the team gradually took control of the innings. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi made a partnership of 32 runs in the beginning. However, soon the process of falling wickets started and the team lost three wickets for 32 runs.

After this, captain Ryan Parag and Shimron Hetmyer tried to handle the innings. In the end, Ravindra Jadeja played a responsible inning of 43 unbeaten runs and along with Shubham Dubey took the team to a challenging score of 159.

Lucknow’s batting disintegrated
Chasing the target of 160 runs, Lucknow Super Giants had a very bad start. The team lost three big wickets in just 11 runs, in which Rishabh Pant, Aiden Markram and Ayush Badoni were out without opening the account.
Mitchell Marsh gave some hope by playing a fighting inning of 55 runs, but he did not get support from any other batsman. The entire team was bundled out for 119 runs and Lucknow had to face another defeat at home.
Archer’s deadly bowling
The bowlers made the biggest contribution to Rajasthan’s victory. Jofra Archer shook Lucknow’s batting by taking 3 wickets. Nandre Berger and other bowlers also took wickets at important junctures and put the team in a strong position.
Big change in marks table
With this win, Rajasthan Royals has reached second place in the points table. The team has won 5 out of 7 matches and secured 10 points. Whereas Lucknow Super Giants had to remain at the bottom after 5 defeats out of 7.



  • Rajasthan Royals once again proved that their team is balanced. They registered an easy win on the basis of excellent performance in both the bowling and batting departments. On the other hand, Lucknow’s continuous unsuccessful batting remains a matter of concern.
