‘Stranger Things’ creators Duffer Brothers to be honoured at Gotham Awards

Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer are set to receive the Visionary Tribute at the Third Annual Gotham Television Awards for their work on Stranger Things.

The ceremony will take place on June 1 at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City, recognising the impact of the Netflix series on modern television.

Created by the Duffer Brothers, Stranger Things premiered in 2016 and quickly became a defining show of the streaming era, combining science fiction, horror and coming-of-age storytelling.

The series follows a group of friends in Hawkins, Indiana, as they encounter supernatural forces and government secrets.

The show has earned widespread acclaim, securing 12 Primetime Emmy Awards from 57 nominations. Its latest season also achieved strong global performance, with all five seasons remaining in Netflix’s top 10 for eight consecutive weeks.

Season 5 Volume 1 recorded 59.6 million views in its debut week, marking the biggest opening for an English-language series on the platform.

Organisers confirmed that additional honourees will be announced in the coming weeks, while nominations for competitive categories are set to be revealed on April 28.

The awards ceremony will take place in New York, bringing together key figures from across television and streaming.
