Prime Minister went boating on Hooghly River in Kolkata: Photography of Howrah Bridge, met sailors

Kolkata. Prime Minister Narendra Modi went boating in the Hooghly river here on Friday morning and met boatmen and morning walkers. Modi shared some pictures of his boating trip on social media, in which he is seen sitting on a wooden boat with a camera in his hand. Howrah Bridge and Vidyasagar Setu are visible in the background in the pictures.

The Prime Minister wrote on ‘X’, “Tried to take pictures of this great river.” Also got the opportunity to see Vidyasagar Setu and Howrah Bridge closely.” He said that Ganga has special importance for every Bengali. Modi said, “It can be said that Ganga flows in the soul of Bengal. In its sacred waters flows the eternal spirit of an entire civilization.”

“This morning in Kolkata, I spent some time on the banks of the Hooghly river, which was an opportunity to express my gratitude to Mother Ganga,” he said on social media. The Prime Minister said he had the opportunity to meet “boatmen, whose hard-working nature is admirable, and also morning walkers.”

“On Hooghly, we reiterated our commitment to work for the development of West Bengal and the prosperity of the great Bengali people,” he said. The Prime Minister is actively campaigning for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the West Bengal Assembly elections, the first phase of which concluded on Thursday. The second phase of elections will be held on April 29 and counting of votes will take place on May 4.
