Akshay Kumar’s ‘Bhoot Bangla’ earned Rs 135 crore in 7 days, leaving behind the lifetime collections of Munjya and Bad News.
The pairing of Akshay Kumar and director Priyadarshan has once again done wonders at the box office. His new horror-comedy film Bhoot Bangla has won the hearts of the audience by performing brilliantly in the very first week of its release. The film not only took a good start but also maintained its hold throughout the week, making it fast towards big collections.
Looking at the film’s earnings, it is clear that the audience is liking its comic and scary style. In the very first week, this film has reached close to Rs 150 crore globally and has made its place in the list of top horror-comedy films of Bollywood.
box office performance of bhoot bungalow
Bhoot Bangla was released in theaters on 17 April, while its paid previews were also shown a day before. The film earned around Rs 58 crore in India in its first weekend, which is considered a strong start. However, there was a decline in the film’s earnings on Monday and it was limited to only Rs 6.75 crore. But after this the film made a spectacular comeback on Tuesday and collected around Rs 8 crore.
After this, there was a slight decline in the earnings in the middle of the week, but the film continued to perform steadily. On Thursday, the film earned around Rs 5.15 crore, which was slightly less than the previous day. The total domestic collection of the film in the first seven days has been around Rs 84.05 crore, while the gross collection has reached around Rs 100 crore.
The film’s success was seen in foreign countries also
The film has performed well not only in India but also abroad. After average collections in the initial days, the film earned around $1 million in the international market on the second and third days. Within a week, the foreign collection of the film has reached about 38 lakh dollars. In this way, the total worldwide collection of the film has been around Rs 135 crore.
Expectations from the second weekend
At present, the daily earning of the film has fallen below Rs 10 crore, but it is expected that the film can once again gain momentum in the second weekend. If this happens, the film can cross the Rs 150 crore mark by Saturday. Also, if the film’s earnings remain strong in the second week also, its lifetime collection can reach Rs 250 crore. However, it may be challenging for the film to earn big beyond this.
Overtook ‘Munjya’
With earnings of Rs 135 crore, Bhoot Bangla has become the third highest grossing Hindi film of this year. Not only this, this film has also left behind the lifetime collection of Rs 132 crore of the 2024 film Munjya. Apart from this, it has also crossed the collection of Rs 116 crore of Akshay Kumar’s previous hit film Bad News.
Place in the list of horror-comedy films
Now Bhoot Bangla has reached sixth place in the list of Bollywood’s highest-grossing horror-comedy films. Further films like Stree 2, Bhool Bhulaiya 3, Bhool Bhulaiya 2, Stree and Thamma are included in this list. The next target of the film may be to reach the top 3 in this list, but it seems difficult to surpass the big figures of Stree 2 and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.
This film has been directed by Priyadarshan, who is returning to Hindi cinema after almost five years. Along with this, it is also the coming together of the pair of Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan after 14 years, which remains a special attraction for the audience. Along with Akshay Kumar, actors like Tabu, Vamika Gabbi, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav and Mithila Palkar are also seen in important roles in the film.
