Why can’t we talk on phone from home? TRAI Chairman explained the problem and solution
These days, people are facing the problem of poor network inside homes and buildings. People are worried why this problem is happening? Now Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) Chairman AK Lahoti has given the reason for this. He also told how to deal with it. He said that now it has become necessary to include digital connectivity infrastructure in construction planning, because despite the rapid increase in the use and speed of mobile data, people are facing network problems inside homes and buildings.
TRAI Chairman AK Lahoti, who arrived at ‘COAI Digicom Summit 2026’, says that the increasing demand for data cannot be met by mobile networks alone. Especially in the era of increasing use of AI. Therefore, regulatory frameworks and policies are promoting the expansion of fixed broadband networks to better meet the needs of consumers.

He says that network problems inside buildings are becoming a big challenge. Complaints of poor signal inside homes are continuously being received. In such a situation, it has now become necessary to include digital connectivity infrastructure in building construction. The government has accepted the recommendations of TRAI.
So this is how the government will improve the mobile network
TRAI Chairman said that he has also recommended the government to provide additional spectrum to telecom companies. This includes the 37 to 40 GHz band and the 600 MHz band. Signals sent in the 600 MHz band will help improve mobile networks within homes.

Let us tell you that in October 2024, TRAI had made rules for ‘rating’ residential and commercial buildings on the basis of the quality of digital connectivity. The rating work will be done by a TRAI authorized agency.
