Shribhoomi: Last 22 April (Wednesday night) in Dullabhchhada of Shribhoomi district: The sudden catastrophic Kalbaishakhi storm caused huge devastation in wide areas including Hospital Road of Dullabhchhada. Due to strong winds, lightning and flashes, an atmosphere of panic was created in the entire area. According to local sources, due to the intensity of the storm, roofs of many houses were blown away, huge trees were uprooted and power lines were heavily damaged.
Due to this, Dulabhchhada area remained immersed in darkness throughout the night and thousands of people had to face a lot of trouble. The house of Prashant Bhattacharya, resident of Hospital Road, suffered the most damage. A huge Sirish tree nearby broke and its branches fell on the pitched roof. The family members got scared due to the loud noise. Five iron pillars of the roof bent and broke, causing severe damage to the structure of the house.
Besides this, the drinking water pipeline of the house was broken and the electricity connection was also disrupted. Many items including flower pots kept on the terrace were destroyed. According to the family, the initial loss is estimated to be more than Rs 35 thousand. At the same time, the main power line of Hospital Road broke and fell on the road, creating a dangerous situation. Also, the tin roof of a mill near the Satsang got blown away by the strong wind and fell on the road, due to which the movement of people was also affected.
The electricity department said that employees are working on a war footing to repair the damaged lines and restore supply as soon as possible. Local people have demanded government assistance for the affected families. The local administration and electricity department are working jointly to normalize the situation after the storm.
