Protest by AAP workers in Punjab, ‘Traitor’ written on the walls of the houses of Harbhajan Singh, Ashok Mittal and Rajinder Gupta.
After Rajya Sabha members Harbhajan Singh, Ashok Mittal and Rajinder Gupta joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), there is a lot of anger among Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers and the general public. In their homes and even in the Lovely Professional University they "traitor" Slogans have been written which show the level of anger of the people.
Protestors raised slogans of “Traitor of Punjab”
At many places, protesters raised slogans of “Traitor of Punjab”, indicating deep anger and feeling of betrayal among the people. Many people have expressed disappointment over this betrayal of Punjab’s mandate, and some have even announced not to get their children admitted in LPU in protest.
Senior AAP leader in Jalandhar Pawan Kumar Tinu said that the AAP government will come back to power in Punjab in 2027 and BJP will have no political ground left to stand. In desperation, the BJP has resorted to luring AAP Rajya Sabha members to its side. Congress, BJP and Akali Dal have formed an unholy alliance against AAP, due to which their leaders are giving similar statements about AAP MLAs joining BJP.
Protest outside Rajinder Gupta’s house
Meanwhile, AAP Punjab Youth Wing acting chief Parminder Goldy led a protest outside Rajinder Gupta’s house, where party workers raised slogans of “Punjab de Gaddaar Murdabad”. He said that the people of Punjab will never forgive this betrayal. BJP is deeply scared of Arvind Kejriwal’s politics of development and governance and is trying to destabilize AAP through conspiracies. But, these efforts will fail because every AAP worker stands firmly with the party leadership and its vision.
AAP leaders reiterated that the party is united and committed to serving the people of Punjab. He claimed that those who broke the trust of Punjab will ultimately have to be held accountable before the people of the state.
