Police seizes property worth Rs 3.5 crore belonging to drug smugglers in Srinagar
The accused were identified as Shakeel Ahmed Ghani and Farooq Ahmed Mir.
Srinagar, (Language) Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday attached property worth Rs 3.5 crore belonging to drug smugglers in Srinagar. The officers provided this information. The spokesperson said that this action was taken as part of the police campaign against drug trafficking and drug-free Jammu and Kashmir campaign.
He said that Sangam police station attached two immovable properties belonging to the two accused in the case under Section 68F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) Act. According to the spokesperson, both the accused have been identified as Shakeel Ahmed Ghani and Farooq Ahmed Mir, residents of Kreshbal area in Noorbagh.
He said that the police have attached Ghani’s two-storey residential house and one kanal land adjacent to it, which is worth more than Rs 2 crore. Apart from this, Mir’s two-storey residential house and one kanal land have also been attached, the estimated value of which is around Rs 1.5 crore. He said that the identities of the seized properties have been obtained with the help of illegal assets derived from drug trafficking.
