Gobardhan Das said: It is the pride of Bengal to be a member of NITI Aayog, will work for developed India!

The central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made major changes in the structure of NITI Aayog. BJP MLA from Balurghat in South Dinajpur and eminent economist Ashok Lahiri was made the Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog, while renowned immunologist Gobardhan Das was appointed a member of this body. Gobardhan Das expressed his gratitude to PM Modi in a special conversation with IANS on Saturday.

Gobardhan Das, while talking to IANS, described being made a member of NITI Aayog as unprecedented. He said, “Being a member of NITI Aayog is a matter of pride not only for us but for the entire Bengal and Bengalis. We feel very good that PM Modi has expressed confidence in us.

I thank him. After becoming a member of NITI Aayog, we will work for the country and to take the country forward. As a member of NITI Aayog, we will also contribute as much as possible to PM Modi’s resolution of ‘Developed India’.

He said, “Bengal was a country of sages and sages, it was a sonar Bangla, where Rishi Aurobindo was born. This is the Bangla of Guru Rabindranath, Bakimchandra and Shyamaprasad Mukherjee. If we look at the field of science, it is the Bangla of Meghnad Saha and Satyendra Bose. In between, it had become a little dirty, but to make Bengal a sonar and glorious Bangla again, this will be our aim.”

He said, “The condition of education and health system in Bengal has to be improved. The condition of industry in the state has to be improved. In today’s time, everyone is migrating from Bengal, going out for medical treatment. People are going to South India and other states for jobs.

We have to make a policy so that no citizen of India is left behind. In this effort, we will work in NITI Aayog and will take everyone together, work for everyone’s support, everyone’s development, which will make India a developed country.

Gobardhan Das said, “India is completely capable. We saw glimpses of what India will be like in the future during the time of Covid. The country protected 140 crore Indians by making its own Covid vaccine. Along with this, it also supplied the vaccine to around 150 countries. India is the fourth largest economy in the world and we will reach the third position very soon. Our aim is to develop India and work for the welfare of every citizen.”
