8th Pay Commission: Big expectations of level-1 employees, know 10 major demands
New Delhi. After the formation of the 8th Pay Commission, expectations of major changes in the pay structure have increased among central employees. Meanwhile, Pragatisheel Shikshak Nyay Manch (PSNM) and its affiliated All India NPS Employees Federation (AINPSEF) have submitted a detailed demand letter for Level-1 employees to the 8th Pay Commission.
10 major demands of level-1 employees
1. Huge increase in minimum wage
The biggest demand is that the minimum basic pay of level-1 employees should be increased from Rs 18,000 to Rs 50,000 to Rs 60,000.
2. Modification in Fitment Factor
A demand has been made to increase the fitment factor from 2.57 to between 2.62 to 3.83, so that there can be a big increase in the total salary.
3. Integration of Dearness Allowance (DA)
The employees are demanding that when DA reaches 50%, it should be merged with the basic salary.
4. Increase in HRA
It is proposed to increase the house rent allowance from the existing 10%, 20% and 30% to 12%, 24% and 36%.
5. Improvement in annual salary increase
The organizations have demanded an annual salary increase of 6% to 7%, so that there is a steady increase in salaries.
6. Increase in Children Education Allowance (CEA)
There is a demand to increase the amount of children’s education allowance from Rs 2,812 to Rs 7,000 per month.
7. Transport and Digital Allowance
There has been a demand to give a minimum transport allowance of Rs 9,000 and digital assistance allowance of Rs 2,000.
8. Cashless medical facility
It has been said to implement 100% cashless medical facility (both OPD and IPD) for all employees.
9. Reforms in gratuity and insurance
There is a demand to increase the retirement gratuity limit from Rs 25 lakh to Rs 50 lakh and strengthen group insurance.
10. Old Pension Scheme (OPS) and Promotion System
The demand also includes restoration of the old pension scheme as well as assured promotions every 6, 12, 18 and 24 years.
