Subhash Ghai announced ‘Taal-2’
In an interview given to Hindustan Times, director Subhai Ghai confirmed that the script of Taal 2 is almost ready. For the last 15 years, people have been asking me, ‘When are you making Taal?’ Taal’s energy is so powerful that even today’s Gen-Z wants to see it. But making it is not as easy as it seems. The script is almost complete and now we are wondering if this is the right time to make it. Purity is very important in film making.”

He further said, “If you remember, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Akshaye Khanna were new in the industry when Taal was made. So a different kind of innocence and purity was seen in that film. Whereas Anil Kapoor was a star and he was shown in that way. After a good script, the biggest responsibility is casting.”

The director asked Gen Z and Alpha this was the question
81-year-old director Subhai Ghai recently shared a post on his Instagram handle, in which he wrote- “Peace or passion? Spiritual or cosmetic? This is the story of ‘Taal’ – a film that I took the risk of making. There was no villain, no sex, no violence in it.” Will this story be liked and memorable by today’s Gen Z and Alpha? Can we make Taal 2?” His question has created a stir on social media and fans have started demanding ‘Taal 2’.

Hint given on star cast also
Talking about the casting and the success of the 2025 blockbuster Saiyaara, Subhai Ghai said, “I loved Saiyaara. The best thing about it was that it had new faces, whose innocence and energy I trusted.”

When asked if he would cast Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda in Taal 2, he said, “Now both of them have become stars, but Taal 2 should have new faces as per the characters. That’s what the character needs.” The filmmaker finally told that Akshaye Khanna is like family to him even today and they keep meeting often.
