‘Pirates of the Caribbean 6’ producer drops major update on release plans
Pirates of the Caribbean 6 is slowly moving forward after years of delays with new updates suggesting the long-awaited sequel is still in active development at The Walt Disney Company.
The franchise has been on hiatus since 2017’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales despite earlier films becoming billion-dollar hits.
Plans for a sixth instalment have faced repeated setbacks including behind-the-scenes changes and the high-profile legal battle involving Johnny Depp and Amber Heard.
While the film does not yet have a finalised script cast or production timeline still progress is being made.
“We’re still working on a screenplay,” producer Jerry Bruckheimer said adding that the team is “close on part of it.”
He also addressed Depp’s potential return as Captain Jack Sparrow a role widely seen as central to the franchise’s identity.
According to Bruckheimer Depp could come back “if he likes the way the part’s written.”
The uncertainty around Depp’s involvement continues to be a major factor in the film’s development as fans remain divided but hopeful about his return.
Story details for the sixth instalment remain under wraps although the previous film left several threads open including a tease of Davy Jones’ possible return in a post-credits scene.
For now Pirates of the Caribbean 6 remains in early stages but the latest update signals renewed momentum and the possibility that the iconic pirate saga could soon set sail again.
