Discussions intensify in UP politics

Actually, discussions regarding Babu Singh Kushwaha have intensified in UP politics since few days. There is talk in the political circles that Kushwaha is bargaining with the two big parties of Uttar Pradesh, SP and BJP, with the help of his party Jan Adhikar Party and his vote bank. He is demanding maximum seats from Samajwadi Party and BJP in the upcoming 2027 assembly elections, so that his politics comes to the center of UP.

On what basis is the demand for seats?

According to the current politics, Babu Singh Kushwaha has become essential for the politics of UP. He comes from OBC category but is non-Yadav. The number of voters of their caste is decisive during elections. He claims to represent OBC castes like Kushwaha, Saini and Shakya. These classes are going to play a big role in Akhilesh Yadav’s PDA (Backward-Dalit-Minority) strategy. Regarding this, Babu Singh Kushwaha has once said that ‘We can transfer votes, hence the share should also be accordingly.’

In such a situation, by winning from Jaunpur in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, he has strengthened his claim that he is not just a leader of a small party but a leader who gets votes. Kushwaha’s influence is believed to be especially in Jaunpur and Varanasi belt in Purvanchal, hence they are claiming those seats where they have caste and local hold.
