Rajasthan: Major accident in Neemrana: 4 people including innocent girl burnt alive in fire in scrap warehouse

Neemrana, 25 April. Four people, including a 7-year-old girl, died in a massive fire that broke out in a scrap warehouse in Neemrana area of Kotputli district on Saturday night. The massive fire and subsequent explosion had caused panic. Superintendent of Police Satveer Singh said, “All four bodies have been recovered and a thorough search of the entire area has been completed. The FSL team has also started its investigation at the spot. The exact cause of the fire is being ascertained.”

The incident took place in a warehouse located on Bichpuri Road in Mohladiya village, where a large quantity of scrap material, including empty perfume bottles, was stored. According to officials, many laborers working inside the complex were trapped when the fire broke out. Four people, including a minor girl, were burnt to death, whose bodies were later taken to a government hospital. Eyewitnesses said the flames quickly spread to an adjacent plastic granules manufacturing unit located in the same complex. During this time, a massive explosion in the factory made the fire even worse, causing panic in the industrial area and the area adjacent to the surrounding residential settlements.

According to initial information, the workers tried to escape, but they could not do so as a truck parked at the gate of the warehouse caught fire and blocked the exit. The workers trapped inside tried to scale the boundary wall to reach the other side, but due to its height they failed and many people lost their lives. Several fire tenders were sent to the spot from Neemrana, Ghiloth and Japanese area. The fire was brought under control after about two hours of effort.

Teams of SDRF (Army Defense Forces) and forensic experts were also deployed to assist in rescue and investigation operations. Senior officials, including district administration and police officials, reached the spot to monitor the relief operations. Officials fear that more workers may have been present inside at the time of the incident, due to which the death toll is likely to increase.

In fact, local people said that till the time of writing this report, two people were missing. The deceased have not been identified yet and DNA samples will be taken. Officials said the exact cause of the fire is still unknown. However, preliminary investigation suggests that the warehouse and factory lacked adequate fire fighting arrangements, due to which the fire may have spread rapidly.
