Extreme heat in Rajasthan, Barmer 45.7°C, heat wave alert

Due to the scorching heat in Rajasthan, the temperature has crossed 45°C and the effect of heat wave continues in many districts. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert and expressed the possibility of slight relief from thunderstorms and rains between April 26–29.

Amidst the Rajasthan heat alert, the temperature in Rajasthan has continuously increased to above 45 degrees Celsius, due to which the effect of heat wave has intensified. Barmer was the hottest on April 25, 2026, while cities like Jaisalmer, Bikaner and Jodhpur also recorded temperatures around 44 degrees. The Meteorological Department has warned that the heat may increase for the next few days, although thunderstorms and light rain between April 26–29 may provide partial relief.

Extreme heat in Rajasthan: crosses 45 degrees, heat wave continues to wreak havoc

This time the heat in Rajasthan has started showing its intense intensity in April itself. In many districts the temperature has crossed 45 degrees Celsius, due to which life is being affected. Barmer was the hottest, where the mercury was recorded at 45.7 degrees, which is much higher than normal.

Apart from this, the temperature in cities like Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Jodhpur and Kota also remained around 44 degrees. The effect of intense heat is also visible in Jaipur and Alwar, where the mercury has reached close to 41–42 degrees.

Next 2-3 days more heavy, heat wave alert issued

According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature may increase by another 1 to 2 degrees in the coming 2–3 days. Especially in North-Western Rajasthan, the effect of heat and heat wave will be more visible, due to which the situation can become more difficult.

Heat wave warning has been issued in many districts including Alwar, Bharatpur, Dausa, Dholpur, Jhunjhunu, Karauli, Sikar, Bikaner, Churu, Jaisalmer and Nagaur. People have been advised to avoid leaving the house during the afternoon and drink enough water.

There may be relief from storm and light rain

There is hope of some relief amid the scorching heat. Between April 26 and 29, the weather may change in some parts of the state under the influence of a weak western disturbance. During this period, there is a possibility of thunderstorm, strong winds at the speed of 30–40 km per hour and light rain or drizzle.

Although this relief will be for a limited time, it may cause a slight drop in the temperature. The Meteorological Department has advised people to be alert and take precautions according to the changing weather.
