Road under construction becomes a problem: People troubled by dust, risk of respiratory diseases increases
Supaul. The road being built from Veerpur Airport, located on the Indo-Nepal border in Supaul district of Bihar, to Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) 45th Battalion Headquarters, Library Road via Chakbandi Chowk, to Basantpur Block Office and SH-91, has become a big problem for the local people these days.
Due to negligence in the construction work, dust is rising in the entire area, making life difficult for the people. According to the local people, the road construction work is going on for the last four months, but despite laying sand and gravel, water is not being sprinkled regularly.
Due to this, dust keeps flying on the road all the time, which reaches nearby houses and shops and is disturbing the people. Due to the location of PACS and FCI warehouse on this route, 10 to 12 heavy vehicles pass daily. Due to the movement of these vehicles, the dust cloud increases further, due to which the pedestrians and local residents are facing a lot of problems.
Villagers say that due to continuous dust and pollution, patients suffering from respiratory diseases have started increasing in the area. Especially children and the elderly are being affected more by this problem. Local citizens have demanded from the concerned department that water sprinkling should be done regularly in the morning and evening, so that the dust can be controlled and people can get relief.
Executive Engineer of Rural Works Department, Suman Kumar said that two layer work of road construction has been completed and the remaining work will be completed soon. He also assured that instructions will be given to the sensor to sprinkle water regularly, so that the common people can get relief from this problem soon.
