Mann Ki Baat: PM Modi expressed the importance of Buddha’s messages, praised the work of the Chilean organization!

Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked about the thoughts of Lord Gautam Buddha and his life message in the 133rd episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’ on Sunday. He also mentioned an organization in Chile, South America which is working to further the ideas of Lord Buddha.

He said that the message of Lord Buddha is as relevant today as it was thousands of years ago. PM Modi said, “Lord Buddha has taught us that peace starts from within us.” He also told that victory over oneself is the greatest victory.

PM Modi further said that in the times of tension and conflicts the world is going through, Buddha’s thoughts have become even more important.

The Prime Minister also told in his address that an organization in Chile, South America is working to further the ideas of Lord Buddha. This organization is working under the guidance of Ladakh-born Drubpon Otjar Rinpoche.

PM Modi said that this organization is connecting meditation and compassion with people’s lives. The stupa built in the Cochiguaz Valley of Chile gives people a feeling of peace and tranquility, where a large number of people visit.

Let us tell you that Buddha Purnima, also known as Vaishakh Purnima, is the most important festival of Buddhism. This day is celebrated to commemorate three major events in the life of Lord Buddha (birth, attainment of enlightenment (Bodhi) and Mahaparinirvana).

According to history, Lord Buddha was born on Vaishakh Purnima in Lumbini, Nepal in 563 BC. After this, after years of hard penance, he attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya and became Buddha from Siddhartha. At the age of 80, he attained Mahaparinirvana on this day in Kushinagar.
