Is your train ticket waiting? IRCTC’s ‘Vikalp’ feature will get you confirmed seat, know how
IRCTC Opt Vikalp Feature: IRCTC’s ‘Optional’ (VIKALP) feature is for those passengers whose tickets are not confirmed till the chart is prepared. This feature searches for vacant seats in other trains traveling on the same route and confirms your ticket there if available.
IRCTC Opt Option Feature: If your train ticket is waiting, then IRCTC’s ‘Alternative Train Accommodation Scheme’ (VIKALP) feature can be very useful for you. By choosing this option while booking tickets, your waitlisted ticket can be confirmed if a vacant seat is found in another train on the same route. This increases the chances of getting a confirmed seat and you do not have to make any extra effort.
What is this new feature?
The ‘Vikalp’ (VIKALP) feature of IRCTC is for those passengers whose tickets are not confirmed till the chart is prepared. This feature searches for vacant seats in other trains traveling on the same route and confirms your ticket there if available. In simple words, this is a smart way to convert a waiting ticket into a confirmed seat through another train.
How does this feature work?
This feature works while creating charts. If at that time there is a seat vacant in any other train on your route, the system automatically shifts your ticket there. You have to choose this option while booking the bus ticket, after which the chances of getting the seat confirmed increases significantly.
