‘Peace begins from within…’, said PM Modi in Mann Ki Baat.
Tezzbuzz Desk- Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the 133rd episode of Mann Ki Baat today. In his address, referring to the current era of global tensions and conflicts, he said that at such a time, the thoughts of Lord Buddha have become more relevant than ever.
PM Modi said that the month of May is starting with an auspicious occasion, because Buddha Purnima will be celebrated soon. While wishing the countrymen, he said that the life and message of Gautam Buddha is a guide for humanity even today. He said that peace always begins from within the individual and victory over oneself is the greatest victory.
In his address, the Prime Minister mentioned an organization in Chile, South America which is carrying forward the ideas of Buddha. He told that this work is being done under the guidance of Ladakh-born Drabpon Otjar Rinpoche, where meditation and compassion are being linked to people’s lives. He also mentioned the stupa located in the Cochigua Valley, which makes people feel peaceful.
The Prime Minister said that India’s ancient Buddhist tradition is connecting people globally today. He also said that Buddhist philosophy teaches us to live close to nature, as is evident from the story of Lord Buddha attaining enlightenment under a tree.
In this sequence, PM Modi also mentioned Karma Monastery located in Karnataka, which he described as a vibrant forest area. This monastery is spread over about 100 acres and more than 700 native trees have been preserved here.
The Prime Minister said that the message of Lord Buddha is not just a heritage of the past, but it is a guide for both the present and the future. He said that Buddha Purnima inspires us to adopt peace, compassion and balance in our lives.
