Delhi Parking Crisis: Rekha Gupta Government has started providing relief to the people from the parking crisis in Delhi. Delhi Government: To provide relief from parking problem in Delhi, multi-level parking will be built at five places. Work has intensified towards starting modern multilevel parking projects in different areas of the city. The projects with a capacity of 1,261 vehicles will be completed in three years.
In view of the shortage of parking in Delhi’s Karkardooma, Okhla Industrial Area Phase-1, Dilshad Garden, Dwarka and Saini Enclave, a plan has been prepared to create car parking. The process of land allotment for these projects will be completed through e-auction.
Some part of these parking complexes has also been earmarked for commercial use. This will make the projects economically viable. As per the prescribed rules, this commercial space will be used under Master Plan-2021. Rates for parking and commercial space have also been fixed differently for different categories.
The problem of parking in Delhi is becoming increasingly serious. The biggest problem is seen in residential areas, where disputes often arise regarding parking. Recently, a fight over parking in Preet Vihar had turned violent, which shows the seriousness of the problem. New multilevel parking projects are being developed in areas that are close to residential areas. This will provide safe and organized parking facilities to the local people. Besides, the problem of vehicles parked on the roads is also expected to reduce.
Facility will be built for more than one thousand vehicles
Through all these projects, parking arrangements will be developed for a total of 1,261 vehicles. These facilities, to be built over an area of approximately 11,048 square meters, will help in reducing illegal parking on the roads. It is also expected that the speed of traffic will improve with this.
