Yogi Adityanath’s big attack on TMC, ‘Bengal has become a graveyard of industries’
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress in West Bengal and made serious allegations regarding the economic and industrial condition of the state. Addressing an election rally held in Burrabazar, he said that West Bengal, once known for industry, education and cultural prosperity, has now lagged behind due to wrong policies and long-standing misgovernance.
CM Yogi’s claim
He claimed that the industrial structure of the state has become weak under TMC rule. According to him, more than 7,000 big industries have been closed in the last few years, which has had a deep impact on economic activities. He also said that thousands of small and medium industries have also been closed, due to which about 30 lakh youth had to lose employment. Yogi Adityanath described this situation as extremely worrying and said that it has damaged the image of the state and Bengal is becoming a “graveyard of industries”.
While raising cultural issues, he also mentioned the legacy of Rabindranath Tagore. Referring to Tagore’s ancestral residence at Jorasanko, he alleged that posters related to political propaganda have been put up there, which is an insult to the rich cultural heritage of the state. He said that such historical places should reflect respect for the nation and culture and not political propaganda.
need for political change
The Chief Minister also stressed the need for political change in the state. Referring to the completion of 150 years of “Vande Mataram”, he said that Bengal will have to move in a new direction to regain its old identity and glory. According to him, “double engine government” is necessary for development and revival of industries.
Apart from this, he also raised the issues of language, culture and religious freedom. Yogi Adityanath alleged that Bengali traditions are being ignored and unnecessary restrictions are being imposed on religious events. Referring to major festivals like Durga Puja and Kali Puja, he said that banning them hurts people’s sentiments. Besides, he also raised questions on TMC’s stand regarding Ram temple in Ayodhya and called it insensitive towards religious sensitivities.
