Padma Awards 2027 Nominations Open Until July 31
The Government of India opened nominations for the Padma Awards 2027 on March 15, with the deadline set for July 31, 2026.
The awards will be announced on Republic Day 2027. Citizens can submit nominations and recommendations exclusively through the Rashtriya Puraskar Portal.
The Padma Awards—Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri—rank among the nation’s highest civilian honours. Instituted in 1954, they recognise distinguished and exceptional achievements across diverse fields, including art, literature, education, sports, medicine, social work, science, engineering, public affairs, civil service, and industry.
Officials emphasised that all persons, regardless of race, occupation, position, or gender, are eligible. Government servants, including PSU employees, are excluded except for doctors and scientists. The government reiterated its commitment to transforming the awards into “People’s Padma,” encouraging citizens to identify unsung heroes from women, weaker sections, SCs, STs, and divyang persons who contribute selflessly to society.
Nominations must include all relevant details specified in the format available on the portal. Each submission requires a citation in narrative form, limited to 800 words, clearly highlighting the nominee’s distinguished achievements and service.
Details about statutes, rules, and eligibility are available on the Ministry of Home Affairs website and the Padma Awards Portal. Officials urged citizens to participate actively in recognising excellence across the country.
