Kejriwal’s big statement: Will not participate in court proceedings, citing ‘conflict of interest’

New Delhi. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal said on Monday that he will neither appear in person nor will any lawyer appear on his behalf in the proceedings of his case going on in the bench of Justice Swarnakanta Sharma of Delhi High Court.

Kejriwal released a video saying that he had taken this decision due to ‘conflict of interest’. His opposition is not to any particular person but to principles. According to him, justice should not only be done but should also be seen to be done. Referring to Mahatma Gandhi’s ‘Satyagraha’, Kejriwal said that if the voice of conscience says that wrong is being done, injustice is being done then do not remain silent against it, face it but its first step should not be protest but dialogue. One should present one’s point of view in front of the wrongdoer with full humility and give him/her full opportunity to improve.

If you do not get justice even after all efforts, then listen to the voice of conscience, then Satyagraha should be done with peace and humility. Whatever consequences it may have later, one should gladly accept it. In this entire episode, there should not be any kind of hatred or anger towards the person who committed injustice.
