UP: Government will focus on children living in slums and working in brick kilns from May 1

Bureau Prayagraj. Go to School campaign is being run on a large scale in the state from April 1st. The goal of the Basic Education Department is that no child between 6 to 14 years should be deprived of education. He should be enrolled in school and go to school regularly. In this sequence, from May 1, children living in labor colonies, brick kilns and slums in the state will be enrolled. This campaign will especially focus on connecting out-of-school and dropout children with the mainstream. Enrollment of disabled children will be ensured by identifying them with the help of special educators.

Whereas dropout girls will be given admission in Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) on priority basis. Additional Chief Secretary of Basic and Secondary Education Department, Partha Sarathi Sen Sharma has instructed all the Divisional Commissioners and District Magistrates of the state to ensure enrollment of every child. In the first phase of School Chalo Abhiyan (April 1 to 15), the process of enrollment of children who have completed 3 years in Anganwadi-Bal Vatika, 6 year old children in Class-1 and identification of dropout children of 7 to 14 years age has been started.

He said that now in the second phase, we should speed it up and reach out directly to the left out children. Also, instructions have been given to ensure 100 percent transition from classes 5 to 6, 8 to 9 and 10 to 11, so that studies are not left midway. Special emphasis should also be laid on ensuring 100% admission of children selected through lottery in private schools under RTE. He has instructed the officials that no eligible child should be deprived of admission.

Additional Chief Secretary has said that work is being done under Operation Kayakalp and Project Alankar to strengthen the infrastructure of schools. Facilities have been provided in schools on the basis of 19 standards. Once again, run a special campaign to identify the remaining infrastructure deficiencies. Accomplish them through CSR and other means.
