Tragic accident in Indonesia: Two trains collided with each other, many people died, horrifying video of the incident surfaced

Indonesia Train Accident: A major train accident that occurred near Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, spread panic in the entire area. At least seven people died and 81 were injured in a massive collision between two trains at night. Immediately after the accident, the rescue team reached the spot and started the work of evacuating the passengers trapped in the debris. The administration, army and relief agencies are working together rapidly in relief work.

Anna Purba, spokeswoman for state railway company Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), told local media that the death toll in the train accident was seven, while 81 people were injured. He also said that rescue workers were still trying to reach two survivors trapped under the debris.

How did the accident happen?

A passenger who survived the accident said that the collision was very frightening. Sousan Sarifah, 29, told the hospital that she was returning home from work when her train stopped near Bekasi Timur station. Suddenly another long distance train came and collided with him. “Everything happened in a matter of seconds, I thought I would not be able to survive,” she said. The collision was so strong that passengers fell on each other and many people got trapped in the coaches.

Railway spokesperson Franoto Wibowo said that a taxi slightly hit the train at the railway crossing, due to which it stopped on the track and another train coming from behind collided with it. After the accident, there was chaos at the station, a long queue of ambulances formed and the injured were taken on stretchers. Many relief teams are present on the spot and are working to get the injured out of the train safely.

Train accidents have happened in Indonesia before

It is noteworthy that such accidents have happened before in Indonesia also. In January 2024, four workers were killed in a train accident in West Java. In 2015, 16 people lost their lives in a collision between a commuter train and a minibus in Jakarta. According to experts, old vehicles and lack of maintenance are the major reasons for such accidents.
