Gujarat Local Body Election 2026: The BJP has performed strongly in the municipal elections of Gujarat and won a landslide victory. The party secured a majority in 13 of the 15 municipal corporations in the state, while maintaining its lead in the remaining four. Out of 1,044 municipal seats, BJP won 732 seats.

Congress came second with 65 seats, while other candidates won 11 seats. In municipalities, the BJP won 1,688 out of a total of 2,030 seats. Congress won 389 seats, while other parties and independents won 138 seats.

The Bharatiya Janata Party has also won the Unjha municipal elections in Gujarat. Out of 36 seats, the BJP won 31 seats, with no opposition in 22 seats. Independent candidates won five seats, while the Congress failed to open its account.

The Aam Aadmi Party has opened its account in the Surat municipal elections, winning ward number 17 in Surat, where its entire panel won. The victory is considered significant for the Aam Aadmi Party, as it has cemented its position in local politics in the city.
