Adani Gas expands PNG network to 11 lakh homes
Ahmedabad: Amid rising global energy prices and supply disruptions, Adani Total Gas Limited (ATGL) has continued to expand its city gas distribution network, increasing its piped natural gas (PNG) connections to nearly 11 lakh households. The growth comes despite ongoing geopolitical tensions impacting the global energy market.
Strong growth in PNG and CNG network
ATGL reported that its PNG home connections reached 10.99 lakh by the fourth quarter of FY26, after adding 49,504 new households during the quarter. The company also expanded its compressed natural gas (CNG) network to 705 stations, with 25 new stations added.
The combined CNG and PNG volume rose by 13 per cent year-on-year to 297 Million Standard Cubic Meters (MMSCM) during the period under review. Additionally, industrial and commercial connections increased to 9,965, with 214 new customers onboarded.
The company further strengthened its infrastructure by completing a cumulative steel pipeline network of approximately 15,572 inch-km, indicating steady expansion across its operational areas.
Joint venture with IndianOil shows robust expansion
Under its joint venture, IndianOil Adani Gas Pvt Ltd, ATGL reported even stronger growth. PNG connections under the JV crossed 13.1 lakh households, serving over 50 lakh people daily.
The combined network of the JV reached 1,169 CNG stations, with 49 new stations added. Gas consumption also saw a 15 per cent year-on-year increase, reaching 433 MMSCM.
Industrial and commercial connections under the JV rose to 11,529, with 429 new consumers added. The total steel pipeline network under the JV expanded to 28,005 inch-km, reflecting significant infrastructure development.
Navigating global energy challenges
The company’s expansion comes at a time when global energy markets are under pressure. Since late February, escalating geopolitical tensions in West Asia have disrupted supply chains, leading to volatility in energy prices.
These disruptions have resulted in higher natural gas procurement costs, further compounded by currency fluctuations. Despite these challenges, ATGL stated that it maintained uninterrupted gas supply across all its geographical areas.
The company also reported continued growth in volumes, revenue, and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA), indicating resilience in its operations.
EV charging network gains momentum
In line with India’s clean energy transition goals, ATGL has also expanded its electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. The company now operates over 5,100 EV charging points across 26 states and Union Territories, covering 226 cities.
Its installed EV charging capacity has reached approximately 54 MW, signalling a growing presence in the e-mobility sector.
Suresh P. Manglani, CEO and Executive Director of ATGL, said the company continues to scale its clean energy infrastructure across segments, including CNG, PNG, and EV charging.
He added that the company’s expansion aligns with India’s target of increasing the share of natural gas in the energy mix to 15 per cent by 2030, positioning ATGL as a key player in the transition to a cleaner energy economy.
Financial performance remains steady
For the fourth quarter of FY26, ATGL reported a 16 per cent year-on-year increase in revenue, reaching ₹1,696 crore. The growth was primarily driven by higher gas volumes despite rising input costs.
EBITDA for the quarter rose 13 per cent to ₹310 crore, while profit after tax (PAT) increased by 4 per cent to ₹156 crore.
The steady financial performance reflects the company’s ability to manage cost pressures while continuing to expand its customer base and infrastructure network.
Conclusion
Despite facing global headwinds such as rising gas prices and supply disruptions, Adani Total Gas Limited has demonstrated consistent growth in its PNG and CNG networks. With expanding infrastructure, strong joint venture performance, and a growing footprint in EV charging, the company appears well-positioned to support India’s transition towards a cleaner and more sustainable energy future.
