All India Football Federation (AIFF) President Kalyan Choubey recently talked about Prime Minister Narendra Modi motivating children while playing football in Gangtok, Sikkim. He believes that seeing this moment, many children across India will be inspired to play football. Prime Minister Modi on Tuesday shared glimpses of himself playing football with a group of youth in Gangtok on social media platform X. He wrote, “Nothing like playing football on a lovely morning in Gangtok with my young friends in Sikkim!”

In the video, PM Modi was seen interacting with children on the football ground, taking part in the game and encouraging them. AIFF President said that this will further increase interest in football among children across the country. “PM Modi playing football is an important step to encourage sports in India,” he said. Along with this, he also mentioned the ‘Khelo India’ initiative, which was started by Prime Minister Modi to promote sports.

Choubey said that due to the global recognition and leadership of PM Modi, lakhs of youth are joining sports. He said, “Football is the most popular sport in the world and it is widely followed in India.”
