The pace of Akshay Kumar’s ‘Bhoot Bangla’ is fast, but the record is still pending!
New Delhi These days, the trend of horror-comedy films is getting stronger in Bollywood and in this series (Bhoot Bangla) had a good start at the box office. This film of Akshay Kumar and director Priyadarshan saw a comeback after a long time. However, the pace of the film’s earnings seemed to be slowing down in the second week of its release. Especially on Day 11, there was a decline of about 75% in the film’s collection, which has raised questions on its further journey.
Box office journey of ‘Bhoot Bangla’ so far
On Day 11, Bhoot Bangla collected Rs 3.65 crore at the Indian box office. With this, the total earning of the film has reached Rs 117.05 crore (net). Talking about the worldwide collection, the film has done a gross business of around Rs 184.75 crore. The film had a strong opening and first weekend, but the decline in weekday collections has slowed down its pace.
Left the ‘woman’ behind, but…
If compared to Stree, Bhoot Bangla has performed better. Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao’s film ‘Stree’ had earned Rs 85.59 crore in 11 days, while ‘Bhoot Bangla’ has reached Rs 117.05 crore. If seen from this perspective, ‘Bhoot Bangla’ has left the first part of ‘Stree’ behind.
Still behind ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’
However, the real competition is with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, in which Kartik Aaryan gave a brilliant performance. This film had earned Rs 129.83 crore in 11 days, which is more than ‘Bhoot Bangla’. Talking about Day 11 collection, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ had earned Rs 7 crore, while ‘Bhoot Bangla’ could collect only Rs 3.65 crore. In such a situation, it is clear that ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ still remains a strong contender in this genre.
Faded in front of ‘Stree 2’ and ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’
If compared with the subsequent films, the figures of Stree 2 and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 are much bigger. While ‘Stree 2’ earned Rs 384.55 crore in 11 days, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ had also crossed the Rs 200 crore mark. In front of these figures, the earnings of ‘Bhoot Bangla’ look a bit pale.
Will she be able to make records further?
Overall, Bhoot Bangla has left ‘Stree’ behind after a good start, but is still behind in breaking the record of ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’. Now all eyes are on the coming days to see whether the film will be able to pick up momentum again on the weekend or not. If the film gets strong word of mouth, it may perform better in future, otherwise it will be difficult to break big records.
