Donald Trump says his mother had crush on King Charles
US President Donald Trump welcomed the British King Charles with his wife Queen Camilla in the country on their state visit.
During his speech at the White House in the presence of the royal couple, Trump recalled his Scottish mother having a crush on the young then-prince.
Speaking of his late mother, Mary Anne MacLeod, Trump said “I remember her saying very clearly ‘Charles, look young Charles he is so cute’”.

Mary was born and brought up on the Hebridean island of Lewis but moved to New York in 1930 where she passed away in 2000.
The royal couple landed in US on Monday for the historic visit, just days after there were shots fired at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday.
Trump jokingly added “My mother had a crush on Charles – can you believe it?”
This visit marks a historic moment as this is the first time in almost two decades that a British monarch has made a state visit to the country, since Queen Elizabeth landed in 2007.
