Bollywood Untold: When Yash Chopra insulted Mohammed Rafi in front of everyone, Kishore Kumar got angry

News India Live, Digital Desk: In the history of Hindi cinema, Mohammed Rafi and Kishore Kumar are two names whose voices ruled millions of hearts for decades. However, there came a turning point in the 70s when Kishore Kumar’s popularity in the film industry was at its peak and some filmmakers started underestimating Rafi Sahab. A very bitter incident from this period is related to the great director Yash Chopra, who unknowingly or intentionally insulted Mohammed Rafi, seeing which even Kishore Kumar could not control himself. Rafi Sahab was called for a small part, then ignored. This incident happened during the recording of the film ‘Doosra Aadmi’ released in the year 1977. For the film’s famous song ‘Kya Mausam Hai, Ae Deewane Dil’, composer Rajesh Roshan had insisted that Mohammad Rafi’s voice should also be there along with Kishore Kumar in this song. Yash Chopra was hesitant at first because the song mainly focused on Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar and Rafi Sahab’s part was very small. However, Rafi Sahab agreed to the request of Rajesh Roshan and gave an excellent recording. Guldasta spoiled the game: Kishore Kumar got furious. When Yash Chopra came to honor the singers after the recording, he did something which surprised everyone. Yash Chopra brought two bouquets of flowers. He gave the first bouquet to Lata Mangeshkar. Mohammed Rafi was standing next to him, but Yash Chopra ignored him and directly handed the second bouquet to Kishore Kumar. Kishore Kumar was stunned to see this. He could not tolerate this insult from his senior artiste. Rafi Saheb left the studio. Kishore Kumar immediately interrupted Yash Chopra and asked why he was giving him a bouquet leaving Rafi Saheb standing in the middle. By the time Yash Chopra brought the third bouquet from inside, Mohammed Rafi had left the place disappointed due to his self-esteem being hurt. Kishore Kumar also could not see this insult of Rafi Saheb and he also left from there. This incident made a lot of headlines at that time and showed how much Kishore Kumar respected Rafi Sahab despite being his rival.
