Next month, India will get the fourth kill of S-400 from Russia, India’s air defense will now become more lethal.
New Delhi: The air defense capability of the Indian Air Force is going to become stronger soon. According to security sources, India is likely to receive the fourth unit of S-400 Triumph missile system from Russia in early May 2026. This missile is very effective for India.
Deliveries continue under 2018 deal
In October 2018, India had signed a big deal with Russia to purchase five S-400 systems at a cost of $5 billion. Out of these, three units have already reached India. Now the fourth unit is going to come to India next month. Sources say that the delivery of the fifth and last unit is expected to be completed by November 2026. The fourth unit has already left from Russia and is scheduled to reach India in the coming days.
New purchase proposal passed
Last month, India approved the additional purchase of five more S-400 missile systems from Russia. This will make the total number 10. The new purchase is being considered as a follow-up order to the old purchase.
No hindrance from US sanctions
This deal was signed seven years ago. At that time, America had warned of CAATSA sanctions, but sources say that India does not expect any hindrance from American sanctions.
Important role of S-400 in Operation Sindoor
The S-400 system played an important role during Operation Sindoor, a military conflict with Pakistan in May 2025. The Indian Air Force made effective use of this advanced missile system. After the conflict, India proposed to purchase additional S-400 units. Russia has already given training to Indian military personnel to operate this system.
Features of S-400
The S-400 Triumph is considered the world’s most advanced long-range surface-to-air missile defense system. It is capable of tracking and destroying multiple air targets simultaneously. With this delivery, India’s air security system will be further strengthened, especially it will be easier to deal with potential threats on both the fronts.
