Major action by Chopan police, 01 accused arrested with 950 grams of illegal ganja.

Under the direction of Superintendent of Police Abhishek Verma and under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) Anil Kumar and Area Officer City Randhir Kumar Mishra, the Chopan police station has achieved an important success in the campaign being run against illegal drugs.

On 27.04.2026, at around 20:30 hrs, during intensive checking by the police station Chopan, a suspicious person was stopped and searched near Awai Fossils Park Tiraha. During the search, 950 grams of illegal ganja was recovered from his possession in a white bag.

During interrogation, the accused revealed his name as Shahid Alam, son of Munna Taylor, resident of Chopan Barrier Hydril Colony, Chopan District, Sonbhadra, age about 32 years. On the basis of the above recovery/arrest, a case was registered at Police Station Chopan under Section 8/20 NDPS Act, M.O.No. 150/2026, the accused was arrested and sent to the court after taking necessary legal action.

The arresting police team mainly included SHO Atul Kumar Patel, outpost in-charge Gurma, SHO Brijesh Kumar Kannaujiya.
