Asian Beach Games 2026: Priya Malik, Pushpa Yadav win gold in beach wrestling
Indian wrestlers bagged four medals in the beach wrestling competition on the final day of the 2026 Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China, on Wednesday.
Priya Malik (70+ Kg) and Pushpa Yadav (60 Kg) bagged the gold medals, while Siddharth (70 Kg) and Jaspreet Kaur (70kg) clinched silver and bronze medals, respectively.
On the other hand, in lightweight 50 kg bronze medal match, Priyanshi Prajapat conceded an injury and hence lost the bout to Japan’s Funa Yano.
These four medals, combined with the two medals in beach kabaddi on Monday, India finished the tournament with 6 medals – 3 Gold, 2 Silver and a Bronze.
Former Asian medalist Priya Malik defeated Mongolia’s Zorigt while Pushpa Yadava got the better of reining Asian freestyle champion Xie Mengu of China in final.
Both wrestlers showcased dominance and remained unbeaten throughout the group stage and then the knockout stage en route to their gold medal.
Meanwhile, Japreet Kaur (70kg) bounced back strongly in the bronze medal bout, defeating the Kazakh wrestler 2-0 after losing to Vietnam’s Dang Thi Ninh in the semi-finals.
The other three Indian wrestlers, Sachin Mor (80Kg), Aryan (90 Kg) and Jaspooran Singh (90+ Kg) bowed out in the quarterfinals on Tuesday.
