Yashasvi Jaiswal Denies Being Old in Amusing Response to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s Question

Former Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Rajasthan Royals (RR) became the first side to beat Punjab Kings (PBKS) this season. Chasing 223 runs to win, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal added 51 runs for the opening wicket in just 20 balls. Sooryavanshi was the one who gave his team the much-needed flying start with the bat as he went after the Punjab bowlers.

Jaiswal handed his young opening partner the orange cap for becoming the top run-getter this campaign. Commentator Pommie Mbangwa pulled the Indian batter’s leg and asked, “From being the youngster to being the older guy, tell me how you have gone with that? To which the left-hander replied, “I don’t think I am that old and am still young.”

The youngster scored 43 off just 16 balls with three boundaries and five sixes. This knock ensured the young batter became the top run-getter this season and reach the 400-run mark. Arshdeep Singh broke the stand when he had the 15-year-old caught by Shreyas Iyer in the fourth over of the chase.

India’s Test opener praises young batting sensation

During his chat with the former Zimbabwe pacer at the end of the game, Yashasvi was asked how it felt batting with the young batting prodigy. The batter replied, “It is amazing, and I do enjoy batting with him (Sooryavanshi), and he is playing really well.”

The Mumbai-based batter also said, “I am happy to see him hit the ball the way he does from the non-strikers’ end” When asked about the opening stand in pursuit of such a huge chase, the batter said, “It is a high scoring ground, and we had to show intent, and my thinking was if the ball is there to be hit, I am going to go for it.”

Rajasthan Royals take the sting out of PBKS’ attack

Arshdeep was tasked with the job of bowling the first over for the home team. The 27-year-old conceded 15 runs that set the tone of the game as Vaibhav hit the pacer for two fours and a six in the over. Lockie Fergusonplaying his first game of the season, looked rusty as he went for 17 runs in his first over.

The Royals reached their fifty in the first ball of the fourth before India’s left-arm pacer ended the stand and got BKS the breakthrough. Despite losing the young batter early, the visitors didn’t let their guard drop as they kept scoring runs at a quick pace and, by the end of the powerplay overs, had scored 84 runs.
