DFS has taken important steps for the welfare of persons with disabilities: Finance Ministry.
New Delhi. The Department of Financial Services (DFS) under the Ministry of Finance has directed the management of all public sector banks, insurance companies and other financial institutions to provide reservation to persons with ‘standard disability’ in both direct recruitment and promotion in line with the directions of the Central Government.
The Finance Ministry said in a statement issued on Wednesday that apart from this, the following advice has been given to all public sector financial institutions, which is as follows.
The Ministry said to hold periodic meetings with the Disabled Employees Welfare Associations to ensure that their views are heard and their grievances are redressed in a timely manner.
According to the Ministry, appoint a Chief Liaison Officer/Liaison Officer, so that the instructions/orders issued by the Central Government related to the reservation policy (which also includes reservation for persons with disabilities) can be strictly followed.
This also includes adopting an “Equal Opportunities Policy” in compliance with Section 21 and 23 of the ‘Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016’ with the approval of their respective Boards.
The Finance Ministry said its main objective is to ensure an inclusive work environment for persons with disabilities, which is free from discrimination and provides them reasonable accommodation, barrier-free access, fair recruitment and career growth opportunities. A “Grievance Redressal Officer” is to be appointed to resolve the complaints/problems of the disabled employees.
