News India Live, Digital Desk: Today a new golden chapter has been added to the infrastructure of Uttar Pradesh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the state’s longest and most awaited Ganga Expressway. This 594 km long highway will not only connect western Uttar Pradesh with eastern UP, but will also act as a ‘growth engine’ for the state’s economy. With the commencement of this expressway, it will now take only 6 hours to cover the distance between Meerut and Prayagraj, which earlier used to take 12 to 14 hours. The fate of 12 districts will change: Complete route map of the expressway. Ganga Expressway passes through 12 important districts of Uttar Pradesh. It starts from Bijauli village of Meerut and ends at Judapur Dandu village of Prayagraj. In between are districts like Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli and Pratapgarh. ‘Industrial clusters’ are being developed along the expressway in all these districts, which will create lakhs of employment opportunities at the local level. 5 big things about Ganga Expressway that make it special: Speed and safety: The expressway has been designed for a speed of 120 km/hr. Advanced traffic management system has been installed on the entire road. Emergency Airstrip: A 3.5 km long airstrip has been built in Shahjahanpur, so that in case of war or emergency, IAF fighter aircraft (like Sukhoi and Mirage) can land here. Longest Expressway of UP: With a length of 594 km, it is currently the longest operational expressway of Uttar Pradesh. Network of Connectivity: This expressway Delhi-Meerut Expressway will be interlinked with Purvanchal Expressway and Agra-Lucknow Expressway, which will make travel across North India easier. Care for the environment: More than 18 lakh trees have been planted on both sides of the expressway and solar-powered street lights have been used. Investment of Rs 4.7 lakh crore and dream of 1 trillion dollar economy. This will help in achieving Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s goal of ‘1 trillion dollar economy’. The expressway will prove to be the backbone. The government estimates that the areas around this expressway will see an investment of Rs 4.7 lakh crore in the coming years. Farmers and small entrepreneurs will get direct benefits from the creation of food processing units, logistics parks and warehousing hubs. PM Modi’s address: “New Ganga of Development” Addressing the public meeting during the inauguration, the Prime Minister said that the Ganga Expressway is a symbol of modern connectivity of UP. Taking aim at the opposition, he said that the earlier governments kept UP backward, but today the ‘double engine’ government is making UP the most modern state of the country.
