Ganga Express becomes the pace of development: 11 hours journey will be completed in 6 hours, benefit of fast connectivity from this strategic corridor

Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh’s largest greenfield project Ganga Express was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Hardoi on Wednesday. The 594 km long Ganga Expressway is one of the largest greenfield infrastructure projects in the state, which has been completed in less than 3.5 years. The opening of this expressway connecting Meerut in Western Uttar Pradesh to Prayagraj in Eastern Uttar Pradesh is expected to give a new impetus to the development of the state.

With the opening of the Ganga Expressway, the travel time will reduce from about 11 hours to about six hours. This will have widespread benefits for business, logistics, education, health services and tourism sectors. To improve road safety, AI-enabled camera systems have been installed on this expressway, which will give advance alerts to prevent accidents.

Under this project, a 3.5 km long emergency landing facility has been prepared in Shahjahanpur district, which will enable Indian Air Force aircraft to land in emergency situations and will further strengthen the capabilities of this strategic corridor. This six-lane expressway passing through 12 districts, which can be expanded to eight lanes in the future, will improve access to markets, health facilities, education centers and tourist destinations.

While common citizens will get faster access to essential services, businesses and industries will benefit from faster connectivity. Adani Road Transport Limited developed 464 km in this project, i.e. about 80 percent of the total alignment. At the time of construction, more than 12,000 workers were deployed on this project. The remaining portion has been built by IRB Infrastructure.

According to the Uttar Pradesh government, this expressway will generate logistics savings of Rs 25,000-30,000 crore every year, generate about three lakh jobs over the next decade and contribute more than Rs 1 lakh crore to the state’s GDP. Additionally, it will help in increasing freight velocity and reducing inventory holding costs in many areas. This trunk corridor will strengthen trade flows by ensuring faster movement of agricultural products and other goods.

Farmers and small traders will get help in better market access and better price realization. Ganga Expressway will strengthen the industrial and agricultural connectivity of Uttar Pradesh and benefit more than 8 crore people. It will also improve access to religious places like Prayagraj and Varanasi, which will strengthen spiritual tourism.
